Role Overview
An IBM BAW Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining workflow-driven business applications using IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW). The role combines process automation, system integration, and user experience design to digitalize and optimize end-to-end business processes.
This position sits at the intersection of business process management (BPM), case management, and enterprise integration, often in mission-critical environments such as banking, insurance, utilities, telecom, and public sector.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement business processes from scratch on IBM BAW / IBM BPM (including Process Designer & Case Designer where applicable)
• Build modern user interfaces using the latest standards (incl. BAW Coaches / Coach Views and custom UI components when needed)
• Develop integration services and microservices supporting business processes
• Integrate BAW with external systems (ERP, CRM, core banking, legacy platforms)
• Configure and develop human services, system services, decision services, and integrations
• Collaborate with architects and business stakeholders to define the target solution and system structure
• Support testing (unit/integration/UAT) and deployments across environments
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and support existing solutions in production
• Maintain high code quality (Clean Code) in a dynamic Agile environment

Required Skills & Experience
• Experience with developing with IBM BAW or IBM BPM
• Very good knowledge of JavaScript and BPMN 2.0
• Practical database experience: Oracle and SQL Server (strong SQL)
• Knowledge of Java and Spring Boot (Java / Java EE experience is also relevant)
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs (and SOAP where required)
• Proficiency with Git (version control)
• English level min. B2
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Comfortable working in Agile / Scrum teams
Nice to Have
• Frontend frameworks: React (especially for new dashboards)
• Legacy UI tech: Dojo Toolkit, AngularJS (for potential component migrations)
• Experience with container platforms: OpenShift / Kubernetes
• Experience with application servers (e.g., WebSphere / Liberty)
• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices
• IBM ecosystem tools (advantage): IBM FileNet, IBM Integration Bus / App Connect, IBM ODM
• IBM certifications (BAW/BPM/FileNet) and/or exposure to IBM Cloud
• Comparative awareness of low-code BPM platforms (Camunda, Pega, Appian)
• Experience working on large, multi-year digital transformation projects with international clients
• Experience with developing with IBM BAW or IBM BPM
